Often when people think of domestic violence, they only consider physical violence. However spousal abuse can take on many forms, including physical, emotional, and verbal abuse. We work with victims of domestic violence to protect them from their abuser.
Our attorneys have significant experience helping victims obtain temporary restraining orders (TRO). Without a temporary restraining order, it is very difficult to remove the abuser from the house. After the temporary restraining order is issued, there is a hearing to determine if a permanent restraining order is warranted. If the abuser is found guilty of the abuse and a permanent restraining order is ordered, the individual will be permanently removed from the home and placed on a national domestic violence list. In addition, domestic violence is one of many factors in determining courts favoring this states statutes covering custody of children's convictions when determining child custody issues.
We fight aggressively to protect both victims of domestic violence, and those who are falsely accused, in an effort to remove them from the house and gain an advantage in child custody cases.
If you have been the victim of domestic violence or have been falsely accused of such, contact Cutler, Townsend, Tomaio & Newmark. We have the experience, skill, and resources to investigate and fairly resolve domestic violence cases.
